Just as little prick ….

My adventure through diabetes …

End of a busy week

December2

It’s been an exhausting week.  On Monday I went to work and then off to see an eye specialist to talk over surgery that I have to have in the new year.  On /Tuesday they were doing renovations at my work and drilling out concrete so I came home and worked from here and then went with my Mum Christmas shopping.  Wednesday I joined a gym and did a 40 minute work out .. felt great afterwards.  Thursday was more work then an appointment with the health well-being lady to talk over how I’m managing the diabetes, then off to watch my son play hockey in the evening.  Finally got home about 8.30pm exhausted and drained.  And today ..,. Work then a trip to the heart specialist with my father for a couple of tests, then home in rush hour traffic to cook dinner, do the washing and plan my weekend.

One lovely thing that happened was when I popped into our local craft store for some white vinyl for a project and bumped into an old work mate and good friend.  We had a quick catch up and planned to meet up soon over a coffee on the beach.  Can’t wait!

For dinner I had air roasted chicken and kumara with salad and then I found a stray apple in the fridge so am currently air roasting it with some nutmeg and cinnamon and will have that later with some greek yoghurt.

Slightly concerned that my bloods haven’t made it past 16 for the past 4 days but guess my body is finally starting to regulate itself and all the exercise and healthy eating is finally paying off.

Happy Friday :)

A good day ..

November30

Today turned out to be a good day that I wasn’t expecting.  I wasn’t working today which is always a bonus, so housework and washing done this morning then headed to the gym with my Dad for my first session in years.  Having had spinal surgery many years ago it’s always hit an miss as to whether I will be in pain or not but two 20 minute sessions on the treadmill with a couple of minutes in between to rehydrate.  My pace was 5.5km/hr and my incline at 3.  This is bound to change over the coming days and weeks so it will be interesting to see where I end up.

For health reason I need to slim down so will be concentrating on cardio to begin with but will eventually introduce some weights.  My upper back is a bit sore tonight but nothing that some rest and a lie on the floor won’t fix.

Dinner tonight was baked salmon with italian herbs and roast kumara and salad.  Super yum!

Bloods today seemed low for me but I feel ok so must be alright .. morning 13.5m, lunch 10,2, dinner 12.2

Let’s see what tomorrow brings :)
